Racism/Xenophobia -
In the United States: Historic
Timeline
Tsekani Browne
This timeline includes
information in a variety of areas related to the diverse experiences
of racism/xenophobia, for peoples of African descent, in the context
of the United States. As such it contains a large amount of
information, much of which will overlap with other timeline
subjects. In the attempt to create a continuum of racism/xenophobia
as it relates to black folks, this timeline demonstrates both
variety and continuity over time. One will notice that many of the
earlier entries have to do with black legal status and interactions
with the court, as this type of evidence seems the most readily
available. As the entries become more recent they tend to diversify
and the relative frequency of occurrences seems to increase. This
may be due largely to problems of historical reclamation. Keep in
mind that this timeline, although fairly comprehensive is by no
means exhaustive.
